Commercial Projects
Building Specialists, Inc. is a Roanoke, VA commercial construction company.
Warm Hearth Village
Warm Hearth Village founder, Wybe Kroontje envisioned a Village Center that would be the heart of the campus plan. A facility that would enhance both physical and social wellness through three main areas: the welcome center, the fitness center and community gathering spaces.
VMI Richardson Hall HVAC
The existing laundry facility at VMI was built when opening windows and basic fans were the only means of climate control. The electric service to the building was also not adequate for modern washing and drying equipment, HVAC and lighting.
Center for Advanced Imaging
Transform the former site of discotheques and deep fryers into a state-of-the-art medical facility housing the Roanoke Valley’s first open MRI.
HSMM Headquarters
HSMM chose a 19th Century building on Roanoke’s historic Warehouse Row for their expansion. HSMM wanted to restore the integrity of the building as well as create a compelling showpiece for the company’s corporate headquarters.
VMI Cocke Hall
VMI Cocke Hall pool was in need of restoration. The pool was improperly built originally and over the years began to leak thousands of gallons of water.
Flip Flop Shops
The project would encompass demo of a former jewelry retailer. The timeline of this project was extremely short, allowing only for five to six weeks to complete.
Mill Mountain Visitor Center
The City of Roanoke’s Department of Parks and Recreation had a great idea: to welcome and educate visitors to the Roanoke Valley when they took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway or visited the famous Mill Mountain Star.
Foot Locker
Foot Locker was relocating its existing retail space in Valley View Mall to a larger one, which would allow for updated interior branding.
VT Oasis Lounge
VT’s Oasis Lounge was dated and tired. The University’s Athletic Department wanted a fresh “Hokie” branded space for their athletes to gather and relax, but a space for the nutritional training as well.
Freedom First Credit Union
Freedom First Credit Union wanted to serve this underserved area of Roanoke with a branch that would be a gathering place for the community.
The Packett Group
The structure had seen little to no updates for years and the client wanted to open up the building, not only with light, but with a contemporary feel that would speak to the creative work environment that was planned.
Grandin Theater
Renovate and restore the Roanoke Valley’s only remaining historic movie house. Welcome moviegoers with a new 1930s-style marquee and the Star Walk of Fame – a sidewalk embedded with engraved stars bearing the names of Grandin Theatre supporters. Produce the $1.45 million project in a short timeframe and within budget.
