West End Center for Youth

West End Center, a Roanoke nonprofit that works with underprivileged students in after school programs, had a large, underused space that was dated, without adequate heating and cooling. They needed an indoor hangout and play area for the children during wintry weather and extremely warm days in the summer months.

Building Specialists was asked to renovate an existing play area into a light-filled multipurpose room, adding a basketball goal, wall pads, storefront glass windows, HVAC Mini Split system to help with heating and cooling and Patcraft Bounce Back flooring for safer tumbles. Prior to the renovation project starting, a local artist, Rachel Anne Morris painted a vibrant mural on the side of the West End Center. The mural represents the Roanoke River and the surrounding mountains.
